Last Friday I had the pleasure of seeing Stolen Jars play at Alphaville for their EP release party, hosted by Popgun presents. Somewhere between glasses of red, shots of gin (yes, oh yes I went there), and getting dumped, I caught their set and am thrilled to have been at the venue if nothing else to experience their amazing music and vibes- that’s what it’s all about anyway, isn’t it?
Dig this- the band is based out in Montclair, New Jersey, and while I’m super stoked on all-things Brooklyn (like most Brooklynites) it must be said that there is some killer music being made on the other side of the Hudson.
Stolen Jars is also one of those bands that MEANS something and doesn’t exist just to pay rent and studio space (which if you do, that’s cool but it’s also REALLY cool to put your music to the good of other people). 25% of all sales of the EP will benefit The Sylvia Rivera Law Project, a legal aid organization that serves low-income or people of color who are transgender, intersex and/or gender non-conforming.
Soapbox over. Watch the vid for the track Eliot and consider purchasing and helping out others while supporting some rad music xx.
Conceived as a “visual EP” with each song brought to life in a different music video, the band recently shared the video for the track “Eliot”
