The East London three-piece KYLYPSO has got this psych pop sound (reminiscent of the Aussie band Parcels) of an everlasting summer of hope and heartbreak that we can’t get enough of. In honor of their EP Soon Fun coming rull soon, we wanted to share the track “Cosmic Dolphins” off their EP, along with a nifty Q&A the boys did with us. Enjoy x
How did Kylypso get its start?
Rudi started playing keyboards for Tom’s old band….one thing led to another and songs were written….Hugh ended up mixing some of these songs and got slowly more and more involved with the songs until he was a permanent member. The sound started really coming together after we had tried a few songs live surprisingly – as the songs are quite electronic it was a really fun way to start developing them – in an old school band setting.
Are you all from East London? How did you meet?
Rudi is from Guernsey, Tom from Kent, Hugh from Yorkshire. Musical endeavours bought us all closer.
What does success look like to you?
Jeff Goldblum.
What are you listening to right now?
Heaters – “Matterhorn“
An artist or group you’d die to play with?
Nirvana cause they are already dead so we’d have to.
The place you’d absolutely love to play (could be anywhere, including you know outer space)?
LOVE to play a sub marine gig…more so in a kind of aquarium room rather than an actual submarine cause it might get pretty cramped. Not sure you could beat a space gig though…hopefully Rick and Morty would be there.
If you weren’t making music what would you be doing?
[Rudi] – my backup plan to music is art – which i know is a pretty solid fallback plan. After that it is probably helicopter pilot just cause that seems slightly more sensible.
[Hugh] – If I wasn’t making music full time I would be working outdoors, being a gardener really appeals!
