Sounds: Cloud Repair // You’re In Love With Someone New
“Space Suits” became Richard’s way of trying to embrace the space humans have to occupy and the bodies they are born into – without control.
My, my, my it’s been a weekend. Once again our submission account is overflowing (sorry y’all but I promise I’ll get back to you), my brain is swirling with Italian words, and I feel like I could possibly sleep for a week straight. However, before all of the sleeping happens, I want to share a track by the v. talented Cloud Repair.
Around the fall of 2016, Richard Wells i.e. Cloud Repair began putting together demos of songs that would eventually become his first LPSpace Suits, which was released January 26.
While living in Athens, GA, Richard wanted to create something on his own terms – where he could have sole creative control. He began to challenge the breadth of his musicianship and ear as a producer and recording engineer by making an LP. Halfway through the project, he moved back to his hometown of Columbia, SC where he felt he could connect with who he was and better nurture the development of the album.
This particular track is at the very end (what a closer) and not only does it feel soooo right, but it’s also really well made. The track features gorgeous shoegaze // dream pop instrumentals, soothing // ethereal vocals, and lyrics that currently speak to me HARD. Cloud Repair, can we just be besties already?
Listen to “You’re In Love With Someone New” below. And a very large congrats on your first album!
