Dreamy + depressive shoegaze pop from Toronto’s LA ROSE; It’s Joy Division meets DIIV, and that’s not something I say lightly.
Life is hard sometimes; people can suck the life out of you; work can bring you down; and generally things can get on the heavy side. We’ve all been there, and I’m not going to even pretend like I haven’t (see: the entire month of January).
But then you get a track like “pressure” from Toronto’s LA ROSE and all those damnfeelings that you’ve either been feeling too hard (or avoiding) come out in an almost cathartic way–bringing you closer to a resolution. And tracks that can do this within the first 30 seconds deserve to be highly-regarded.
The track “pressure” is melodic and melancholic, with its gorgeous bass line and ethereal vocals. It’s Joy Division meets DIIV, and I don’t say this lightly.
