Sounds: Fontaines D.C. // Chequeless Reckless

Got this submission in a bit ago, and I’m so stoked that they reached out to remind me about it cuz you know, life gets hard. First off, I just want to say how much I love this dude’s accent. I wish dog’s could talk; secondly, I wish my dog had this accent.

I’m delirious, everything makes sense. Nothing makes sense.

So, Dublin’s Fontaines D.C. released this track “Chequeless Reckless” and its quintessential punk. Channelling the sound of Modern Lovers, The Fall and Iggy Pop, the new single is built on this really great hypnotic, kraut-rock infused cyclical riff, with unassumingly anarchist and poetic lyrics and a distinctive gritty Irish drawl.

Money. It’s the sandpit of the soul.

They’ve previously played alongside the likes of The Horrors, Yak, Girl Band (who I FUCKING LOVE), and The Lemon Twigs. Their previous two singles were also tracks of the week on Paste, Rough Trade and The Times too …  all within the last 6 months. So, really take a good look at yourself. I’m gonna crawl back in bed.

What’s really going on?
