Sounds x Seen: Agar Agar // Baby’s All Right, NYC

Bias alert: this is one of my favorite bands of the moment.

Last Friday, me and some friends headed to Baby’s All Right for what would become my favorite show to cover for Left Bank. A Tinder guy asked me recently, ‘what’s the best show you covered on Left Bank’ and I replied snarkily ‘this one coming up’. Cuz, when you know, you know.

So, Agar Agar is this sick Parisian indie-electronic duo, with incredibly dance-worthy synths and lyrics that you can’t help but recall randomly at like, say 2 a.m.

They played La Cigale (in Paris) last year, and I came incredibly close to buying a flight just to see that show so when I heard they were coming to Brooklyn, it was game changing. The crowd was full of so many French people that for the majority of the night, I felt like I was in Paris (thanks for that). And lots of dancing ensued—but to be fair, Baby’s All Right is always known for being a good time.

My friend, and talented photographer, Ben Shirai captured the magique of the show so we can all relive it.
