Sounds: Con Davison // Somebody Else

Texas-raised but Saint Paul-based Con Davison released this new track today “Somebody Else” and it’s full of Peter Bjorn and John vibes.

For the last few years, I’ve been playing drums for other Twin Cities projects, most recently Bad Bad Hats and Dreamspook . I also sing in a band called Wingman. I love all those projects, and am committed to each of them differently, but my desire to embark on a solo project has been eating at me since I moved up north. Let’s face it: sitting behind a drum set or having other teammates on stage with you is decidedly less anxiety inducing. Being alone is terrifying, but I think it’s what I need right now.

“Somebody Else” features catchy vocals (that you can totally sing along with if that’s your thing), nice atmospheric vocals at time and dynamic layers. It’s the first track he released after hanging out in a repurposed King Coil mattress factory recording songs. The song was mixed by Brett Bullion (Now,Now and Bad Bad Hats) and mastered by Huntley Miller (Sylvan Esso, Bon Iver).
