Sounds: Rubblebucket // Fruity

Words by William

Rubblebucket created the most mournful party song to ever force its way into my brain. It’s the sound of half-broken artists that aren’t okay just yet, but they know they will be eventually. You can’t help but sway and let go as Kalmia’s smooth voice floats over a heavy bass line an synthesizer. It’s perfection.

Kalmia Traver and Alex Toth are no longer romantically involved, but the Brooklyn based duo perform and write in the way that only real long term partners can. You can hear the struggles and joys of their ever evolving friendship in every note. It’s heart wrenching and gorgeous. If their entire new album is half as good as Fruity, we’re all in for a hell of a treat.
