I get to hear a lot of great music writing for Left Bank—genre’s all over the place from band from all over. I enjoy it all. But every once and a while I hear a band I really adore. Thanks for submitting, Van Common.

Sebastiaan van Ravenhorst is a self-proclaimed hermit, retreating to a small beach house in the southwest of the Netherlands to write his first EP. 

I didn’t want to get out of the house anymore,” he says. “I wanted to completely let go of my every day surroundings and focus on writing and recording music for the EP.

The results are perfect. His Bon Iver-esq retreat created essential shoe-gaze pop that’s bringing me that perfect combination of melancholy and joy. I want albums upon albums of this.
