Sounds: Richie Quake // Nothing In My Head

Words by K

So this track starts out like a 90’s rap track and I keep waiting for the intro of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air to start but then it pivots quickly into a dreamy, bedroom pop track and I’m left like whaaaaa.

In a good way.

It’s been a long week; it’s only Wednesday, and I will most definitely be hitting my mattress in the next fifteen minutes, but not before I share this incredible track with you lot on the Left Bank.

The vocals remind me so much of Mxther (or however hell they spell their name these days), but between us, I’m digging Richie Quake a lot more than those guys.

Working as a club DJ in Manhattan for the past two years spinning at elite clubs such as 1OAK, TAO, The Blond, and PUBLIC ARTS, as well as playing events for Dave Chappelle, Ferragamo, and G-Eazy, among others – Richie Quake knows the early hours of the morning better than most.

Right there with you (in my former life).

Existing in the space after the party ends before the world begins, Richie presents this unique perspective through “Nothing In My Head” — it’s all about the all-to-relatable narrative of wanting racing thoughts to stop and make way for peace and calm.

Richie Quake, you get me.

Listen to the tune below (and since I’m having trouble embedding Spotify on this post, head over there and show him some love. Homie is in the Fresh Finds playlist which is ACE).

Alright sleeping now …
