Sounds: The Virgin Tongues // Fugitive

The Virgin Tongues‘ “Fugitive” is acoustic-driven and vocal-focused, allowing Duncan McKnight, the driving force behind the band, to carry the song into a drawn-out jam at the very end.

A fresh sound in a world dominated by electronic music, the first conception of The Virgin Tongues was unfortunately ill-fated; just as they began to gain notoriety, McKnight fell from a second story window in Reykjavik, Iceland, and The Tongues’ reign drew to an end. Following a lengthy recovery and a move to Austin, Texas, McKnight resurfaced as a solo artist, carrying The Virgin Tongues into uncharted territory and leaving the days as Berlin’s favorite party band behind.

Now, with a sound that intersects somewhere between psychedelic and roots-rock, McKnight sets the stage for The Virgin Tongues, Part 2. And scene.
