Moviestar is the oddest, most delightful band I’ve heard in as long as I can remember. The trio seamlessly flips from talking over electro-funk to harmonizing over pop-punk guitar. Their lyrics are wacky, ironic, and unarguably unique. After a dozen listens I finally realized who they remind me of—The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Moviestar says they’re from the future, and I kind of believe them. The effortless blend of musical styles is a true work of art. It almost seems natural, like they’re from a time when everyone’s musical style and culture is just a little more blended together. At very least, I hope that’s the future they’re coming from. If so, we’re destined for some really interesting shit.
