Midnight Garden writes music for when “you’re driving alone at night, swimming underwater, drinking cough syrup, or at your high school reunion,” and I absolutely dig it.

The washed out, bedroom pop duo hails from San Diego, giving me another reason to visit besides Lolita’s carne asada fries. Actually, combining the two in a small venue might be the best way to spend a Saturday night.

Midnight Garden started playing together in high school. It shows in their sound — that sweet unity that comes from playing together for years. Guess I need to drink some cough syrup and go to a high school reunion…
