From the first measure, “Unspectacular” transported me from my couch to something close to a fairytale; delicate, graceful, timeless, and magnificently orchestrated, Lac Belot‘s latest release lives up to its artpop genre.

Helsinki, Finland’s Jarno Takkumäki, the creative force behind Lac Belot, has already been compared to Bon Iver and Sufjan Stevens, and if “Unspectacular” is any indication, the praise is beyond deserved. With their subdued delivery and soft vocals – not to mention the stunning orchestral arrangements – the group’s latest release is anything but unspectacular.
