I just got back from vacation (take me back pleaaaaase), and “Drive” makes me want to throw all my luggage back in the car and leave for another. There’s something so free and unrestrained about it; the song is mellow until the very end, when a guitar solo tears across the sonic landscape, but the story in the lyrics is one of those that’s been told a million times, but never fails to leave me longing for a chance to just get in the car and drive. No obligations, no responsibilities, just the road ahead and all the time in the world.
Aaron B. Thompson, a self-described musical late bloomer and the winner of the Canadian Songwriting Competition’s Undiscovered Category, might really be my new favorite songwriter right now. Trust me: this song is definitely going to be on repeat. Check it out here.
