Sounds: Probably The Tornado // III.

Birmingham, AL’s post-punk instrumental duo Probably The Tornado‘s latest single, “III.,” comes creeping in at first, but don’t let the dark, haunting intro fool you; at about 17 seconds, it launches into a full-scale sonic assault.

The dynamics and tempo changes throughout this song are what really blew me away. It rises and falls with the raw emotion of bands like Mineral, dropping low to allow throbbing string sections to break through before taking my breath away once again. There are no vocals to carry the track or sing a catchy hook, but trust me: a song like this doesn’t need it.
