Sounds: Lemonade Stand // Corner in the Universe

Montreal-based Michael Borsellino’s home recording project Lemonade Stand – and his latest single, “Corner in the Universe” – is exactly what I need today. It’s been cold and wet and gray outside for too long and I’m already missing the sunshine. This song is summertime in three minutes and forty-eight seconds, wrapped up with that classic indie-rock sound that I love. It took about ten of those seconds to make me feel more relaxed; my foot started tapping, and I couldn’t help but look out the window for a little bit of sunshine.

“Lay back if you wanna relax

Living by the beach is where it’s at

Maybe when I’m older and it’s colder, I’ll come back to stay.”

Seriously though, I feel like Lemonade Stand is reading my mind. It’s all I can do not to run away from everything, kick back at a little oceanside villa in Italy or Portugal, and swim in the ocean every day. And don’t even get me started on the margaritas (though my drink of choice would be a mojito or four). Until then, I’m going to listen to this song over and over. It’s catchy, mellow, and makes me think of vacation. It doesn’t get much better than that.
