I’m easy when it comes to music: come in swinging with a pounding rhythm section and addictive vocals, and I’m a fan. The Technicolors did just that with “Turn Into Blue,” the first single of 2019. The choral harmonies, funky drum beats, and falsetto melodies grabbed me in roughly 0.2 seconds, and by the end of the song, I was hooked.

The LA-via-Phoenix group’s specialty lies in the bombastic, mind-bending, lo-fi grooves of the early 00’s garage revival, with a subtly electronic twist. The result? An intricate, larger-than-life sonic offering that will be stuck in your head – and at the top of your playlist – for days.
