Quentin Mosimann’s first feel-good single of 2019, “I Need,” is an energetic and progressive hit that DJs will spin, built on sweet bass lines and rhythms that have breathed new life into the house music genre since its release on January 18.
Mossimann has made some serious headway over the past seven years, landing on the DJ Mag Top 100 (#93 this year) and joined the ranks of the top 10 French DJ’s (fourth best French DJ this year), growing a dedicated fanbase of 700,000+ on social platforms.
The DJ, producer, singer, songwriter, TV-host on The Voice and self-taught musician grew up looking up to the likes of Jean-Michel Jarre, Daft Punk or Laurent Garnier, pioneers who helped him shape his own sound and identity. His vocals on this track give the listener a reason to say “I Need…Mosimann’s fourth release on Protocol.”
From his early days as a famous French vocalist in the mainstream to his breakthrough to electronic music, his release “Never Let You Go” featuring Joe Cleere has surpassed over 3 million streams, and in 2018 he was charted at #81 on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs list. Mosimann has also been a judge and performer on the popular TV series The Voice Belgium. After remixing Robin Schulz & David Guetta & Cheat Codes’ “Shed a Light” in 2017, he joined the Protocol family in 2018 with the releases of “Babtoo,” “Low Pro” and “The Groove.”
Mosimann seems like he is mastering the art of melding a love for pop music with the joie de vivre found betwixt the club scene. The future looks bright, with tour dates planned around the world, official remixes, and an upcoming EP on Parlophone/Warner Music, waving from the freak flag from Funk to eclectic Electro-pop.
