Seattle’s own Society of the Silver Cross, led by husband and wife Joe Reineke and Karyn Gold-Reineke, has released their first single, “When You’re Gone,” a brooding and emotionally-charged song from an equally brooding and emotionally-charged duo. If you’re an appreciator of the likes of Nick Cave, PJ Harvey, or The Velvet Underground, this one’s for you.

Wielding a vorpal accordion and piratey rhythms, the track will have you sailing the seas of your mind, in some small light, wondering where (or when) the storyteller has gone.

The main instruments the duo use are 12-string acoustic guitars, a harmonium, new and old school synthesizers, the mellotron, and a shahi baaja, what is basically an Indian autoharp.
