Brooklyn’s Ghost Monologues – aka Richard Mazzetti – just released his newest single, “Outlier,” and I’ve got to say: it’s strangely familiar.
Not in the sound or production style – which is equal parts ethereal and driving – or lyricism. It’s an excellently written, produced, and performed lo-fi track, featuring emotive, weighty vocals set against a dark soundscape. It’s the heaviness and tension that winds through the track, a musical amalgamation of Mazzetti’s silent struggle with anxiety and depression, that hits home for so many of us.
Bottom line: it’s one of my favorite tracks of this winter. Stream “Outlier” here:
