Montreal’s Edwin Raphael‘s newest single, “Bergmot Feels,” is the ultimate in ambient, melancholy indie, with a twist: it’s not overly melancholy.

In fact, it feels relatively lighthearted (nobody tell the hipsters!). “Got the Bergmot feels, yeah, I got the feels for you,” he repeats, mumbling through the line shyly, like he’s presenting it to the one he loves for the first time.

“2018 is vibrant, it’s melancholic, it’s a bittersweet aftertaste. I guess you’ll figure that out soon,” Raphael says of not only his upcoming music but his career over the last year.
