Sounds x Review: Warp Rays // El Niño

Warp Rays, with a beautiful bundle of genres to their name, are an upcoming trio with an indie rock, grunge, and surf sound. The group originate from in and around London, and are now taking the city within their musical grasp with their track, “El Niño.” With the great and iconic influences of Nirvana, Arctic Monkeys, The White Stripes, and Led Zeppelin, it’s completely unsurprising that Warp Rays have a bustling schedule ahead for this year. So far, 2019 has seen them perform at London’s corker of a venue, the Cavendish Arms and 26 Leak Street.

With every listen to “El Niño,” the surfy riffs on the electric guitar become irresistible with the driving throb of the drums and the impressive vocals which withhold the perfect blend of raspy embellishments and a grunge edge. The guitar solo is a glorious dream of ripping the fretboard to shreds, yet with style, technique and clever composition. If taking your playlist back to the true indie surf, grunge, and rock roots is something you thoroughly enjoy, Warp Rays are a must-listen. This emerging band have an individual sound that you won’t stop toe-tapping to and hooking on repeat.
