Toeing the line between bedroom indie and dance-pop, Long Island, New York-based MAYVE‘s latest track, “Head High,” is the synth-heavy track I’ve been missing in my life. It’s got all the sticky-sweet catchiness of The 1975 and St. Lucia with a bit of a twist, carving out a spot for MAYVE in a genre saturated with tribute bands performing under different names.
“Head High” sparkles and grooves, perfect for late nights in a dark club or bobbing your head while working long days on a laptop. The bridge dips down, featuring subdued music and whispered vocals, and draws you in almost effortlessly; I found myself leaning closer, hanging on every word.
