Sounds: triton // twice

Two things: 1. triton “twice” is incredible and 2. the band is based in Hawaii, which makes them even more awesome.

There’s something mellow about this song, even as they sing, “Somebody get me out this town / Don’t let me stay and rot here forever / Get me the fuck out of this town / All alone, on a Friday night / And all I want is to get high.” I’m imagining sitting alone on an empty beach just after the sunset when the sky is that purply-blue color and the waves are crashing all around. It’s heartbreaking and lonely but beautiful at the same time.

“I’m gonna say you died twice

First time when you stopped breathing

And the second time, bit later on

When somebody says your name for the last time.”

I wasn’t expected the weight “twice” carries, but I don’t mind it. It’s sad, but it’s a peaceful sadness, and maybe we all need to feel that a little bit more.
