Parisian musician and songwriter uneima‘s latest track “Amour, Amitié” kicks off with deep, mellow spoken word before falling into a steady, captivating groove. Self-described as “musique de train,” “Amour, Amitié” is a little bit dreamy rock mixed with that tantalizing je ne sais quois that Serge Gainsbourg embodied.
I truly believe there’s just something about Parisian artists. They are effortless, in the same way that Parisian women can walk out of the house in a white t-shirt and black jeans and look like they stepped out of a magazine we wish we were reading…while sitting at a cafe in Paris, wearing said white t-shirt and black jeans. It’s completely different from the go-go-go, louder and heavier and grittier mindset of American artists (which I adore); it captures my attention without ever really trying.
uneima’s “Amour, Amitié” does just that. From the first near-whisper to the final echo, it transports me to a place far from the heavy, pre-storm spring humidity of Georgia. Looking to escape? Stream “Amour, Amitié” now:
