Sounds: J.R. // Be My Man

A youthful musician who calls Southern Ontario home, Canadian artist J.R. – aka Julianna – has released an indie-pop track that will leave you wanting more. Inspired by classic country, folk, punk, and classic rock and roll, “Be My Man” has a vibe that feels like early folk punk from the 1970s dressed in modern garb from your local bohemian supply store. The debut single also features members of bands including The Dirty Nil, Daniel Romano, Dan Edmonds, and Single Mothers.

Cutting her teeth in Welland, ON, Julianna is influenced by her background in heritage arts, mosaics and stain glass restoration. On her songwriting, she says it has always somehow connected to her intuitiveness and her connection with spirituality.

It started with her father’s record collection, says J.R., as her passion for songwriting continued to blossom and grow as she began cultivating her own musical interests.
