Earlier this month, Japanese indie rockers The ManRay released an international feelgood hit for the summer titled “Lemontea”, reminding the listener of The Strokes’ “Someday” with tasteful guitar licks, driving drums and a memorable bassline that will have you humming at the drive-thru while you wait for your iced coffee or green tea frappuccino with the windows down.
Formed in Tokyo City in 2014, The ManRay is a youthful trio of talented musicians that aim to please with a commercial sound that doesn’t overdo it and catchy hooks that stick to your eardrums like molasses. The single is the band’s third hit of 2019, following that of “Madness” and “Sea Side Motel.”
