“You can’t keep running away, you’re just running in place.”
Couldn’t be more thrilled to share this premiere from one of my favorite bands on the scene. Atlas Engine has put together the perfect dream pop summer song, tackling concepts about love, chasing destiny, and expectations–I’ve been going through a similar thing for the past few months and there is something so consoling about hearing a new tune that expresses exactly how you feel.
“Not knowing what you want is one thing but it’s almost worse when you do know and they’re at opposite ends of the road. At 31, he describes a common issue for many New York artists: you get a job to support your passion and wake up one day to realize the effort you put towards each prevents you from truly succeeding in the other.”
Running explores conflicting desires and the struggle of pursuing divergent paths, and is reminiscent of The War on Drugs or Wild Nothing. It’s easy listening with a chill vibe and lyrics that crush you just a little bit if you listen close enough — but sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
The summer is long, life is long, love is long; explore those things and yourself. And, use this new track to get you started. Listen to the new tune below and catch Atlas Engine at our upcoming Left Bank Summer Fête July 20th in Brooklyn x
