It’s 11 p.m. on a Saturday night and I’m downing iced coffee, sharing some submissions that I’ve loved and then forgot to share (sorry!). Indie-pop group Quiet Kids is one of them, and it’s like receiving Christmas early–going through new tunes and being like “damn, this song rules!”

Formed in 2014 in McAllen, TX by songwriter Andy Peña with bassist Devin Garcia, the two started writing under the moniker once things started to settle with their previous group Dignan. They would then artfully craft a fuller sound recruiting keyboardist David Ramirez and drummer Adrian Loera. The band would then go on to earn support slots for luminaries such as Angel Olsen, Mitski, Miniature Tigers.

This tune “On Your Mind’ is 100% what my week has been about–thinking you’re dating a flake who likes to watch your Instagram stories, and then realizing that they just failed to tell you they had moved on and are subsequently just a social media troll. Oh, the woes of dating in 2019.

“People, places and things pull you in every direction, and it’s easy to please any and everyone.  If we all just said what was on our minds we’d have much more of an understanding of who we are, and what we’re looking for.” – Pena
