This new track from New Orleans-based band Biglemoi is such a gem—it’s not often that I come across a Spanish-language track from a band not based in Spain or Central America, and it’s absolutely lovely to be able to feature a tune that is so dynamic on the site. That’s not to say I don’t appreciate getting submissions from other Spanish–speaking countries, because of course, that’s what Left Bank is about, but it’s also really important to show how culturally diverse America is (and will continue to be). I won’t make this political, but Trump can kiss my you know where.
Back to the tune.
“Sola” is five minutes and 28 seconds of a mix of indie rock and indie-folk—it’s so dynamic it doesn’t even fit in one genre. It’s the track you hear when the couples reunite in a movie, or when someone moves away; it’s emotive and beautiful. It tugs at your heartstrings even before you even know what the words are.
Listen to the gorgeous track (and test your Spanish with the lyrics listed under the track).

[In Spanish]
Ya no mas sal
Ya se curó
Ella, solita
Ya no más dio
Ya no pudo llorar
Y amenazó, con su furor
De irse sola
Pobre chico
No la pudo alcanzar
De tu
Tu tu
Tu mala fiebre
De tu
Tu tu
De un mal amor
De tu
Tu tu
Tu mala fiebre, ay no
De tu
Tu tu
De un mal amor
Sola…
Ya no mas sal
Ya se curó
Ella, solita y ahí va
Ya no mas dio
Mas no pudo llorar
Pues para que llorar
Y amenazó, con su furor
De irse sola
Pobre chico
No se pudo ayudar, de…
De tu
Tu tu
Tu mala fiebre
De tu
Tu tu
De un mal amor
De tu
Tu tu
Tu mala fiebre
Ahí no es, ves
De un
Tu tu
De tu mal amor
Sola, ella…
Sola, sola, sola
Sola, sola, sola…
