I feel like a cliché
Together, as I run away
Y’all ready to feel good? Racket man’s new tune “d.e.r.p” is good vibes, good energy, and a gorgeous soprano that borders the falsetto. I’m reminded of Parcels, and that’s not a bad thing. In fact, my ideal would be seeing them both play on tour—but, I’m selfish. And cheap.
Crafting upbeat and cruisy arrangements contrasted by darker lyrical themes, Cleveland-based Racket Man pulls from influences like Prefab Sprout, Toro y Moi, and Big Star to create their own brand of indie-pop.
They formed during the summer of 2017, released their debut self-titled EP in December of that same year (because, #geniuses) and have been working hard to blend their influences together into a single project.
Visions of my past mistakes
Wash over needles in the hay
I sweat it out as someone new
Convinced I’ve gotten through
“d.e.r.p” is both catchy and lyrically complex, and I can’t get enough. Do yourself a favor and listen to the tune below.
