Sounds x Premiere: Pompeya // The Call

Very excited to premiere the new video from Moscow-based band Pompeya. Their vibe is very unabashedly New Wave inspired by 80’s classics that we are all still obsessing over and playing on repeat (The Cure, Duran Duran, etc).

Their debut Tropical (2011) and follow up Foursome (2012) earned the band significant popularity in their home country, so I’m a little bummed I’m just now learning about them. But, hey — now we all know!

This new track features Tame Impala-esque guitars that I can’t get enough of, but the vocals are very 80’s-inspired. It’s the perfect mix of old and new, and the video belongs on MTV of 1985. Bring back the 80’s!

The band now have their fourth album Dreamers coming up, and what a great time to be alive. The album was completely written and recorded in the USA, produced by musicians themselves and mixed by Jules de Gasperis (Bleached, James Supercave) in Los Angeles.
