Just got this gorgeous post-punk meets dream-pop tune from Austin-based band Blushing. Instantly the tune hits you with dreamy guitars and ethereal vocals, set in a gorgeous soprano that rivals Cocteau Twins.
Made up of two husband and wife teams, the 4-piece started in the summer of 2015 after Michelle Soto (guitar, vocals) shared her songs with long-time friend and classically trained vocalist Christina Carmona (vocals, bass). You could say the rest is history, but as they’ve just released a new album, it’s more like history in the making.
The band has released a debut EP and an EP on Austin Town Hall Records, and just released their debut LP earlier this month.
The new tune “Control” brings me back to dark, moldy basements and discovering a band that you feel has been around forever, and will be around for a while. The track pulls you in to their universe, making you angsty and also calm in the same breath—like any good shoegaze tune will do.
And, while I have PLENTY of questions on what it’s like to be in a band with not just your partner, but another couple, I’ll leave those questions for later, and let you dig into this absolute crusher of a track. I love Blushing. You will love Blushing. Blushing loves Blushing.
Is it Friday yet?
