Sounds x Video: Palm Haze // Second Round

Vancouver-based band Palm Haze has recently released this moody, sexy, cool music video for their track “Second Round” and I had to share it with you lot.

The track starts out with a sexy, new age Portishead groove and quickly erupts into an aural—and now, visual—soundscape, making the music video more than just a reflection of the tune but a short film in its own right.

Originally from Brazil, the band blends alternative rock, shoegaze, and trip-hop influences to give us a sound that’s both heavy and smooth. You’re wrapped in fuzzed out guitars and soothing vocals, but you don’t feel angsty or conflicted: you feel safe. You feel seen; you feel known.

Their self-produced debut 7 track debut EP ‘Tangy Dream‘ was released digitally back in 2017 where it was praised by fans, and then later released on cassette by Young Heavy Souls. The band released their sophomore EP, Rêve Bleu on August 30th, 2019, and is a real treat if you’ve got some headphones, a comfy spot, and nowhere to go for about half an hour.
