Sounds: TaReef KnockOut // Melo (Official Video)

Do you remember when Lupe Fiasco’s Kick Push came out? That’s how I feel about this new tune and music video by TaReef KnockOut.

Fresh in his FAMU sweatshirt, TaReef KnockOut has a smooth flow and lyrics that could be seen as both conscious and slightly mainstream (hello, Kendrick), making “Melo” a track that you can vibe to and also appreciate its meaning. The Tallahassee native is both a hip hop and spoken word artist, which you hear in the tune “Melo,” as the flow stays steady from start to finish.

“I make music for anyone who genuinely loves Hip Hop. The culture and the music. We communicate through the music because music is a universal language. So when I perform or I record, I want to show people who I really am and why my passion for this runs so deep. I put a lot of thought into what I’m giving people because I want them to enjoy the experience.”

KnockOut is a natural and mixed with the right amount of raw (seen in the lo-fi, uncomplicated video), TaReef KnockOut’s talent is apparent. Don’t sleep on this up-and-coming rapper, who I’m sure, has much more up his sleeve.
