Welcome to the wonderful ’80’s my friends with this new synth-driven track from Drew Bludd. The Los Angeles-based musician/producer got his start playing in punk and heavy metal bands in 2009—including playing with Vektor, Ugly Kid Joe, and H.R. (of Bad Brains). Taking that darker tonality and his love for the ’80’s, Drew Bludd weaves punk vocals on top of synth-heavy instrumentals, complete with a throbbing drum track to give us a fusion of a raw basement punk show with cocaine mirrored tables and disco balls.
I’m impressed, to say the least. As someone who also loves punk and any return to the ’80’s that I can reasonably allow, Drew Bludd has proven that he can marry two core moments in music’s history without sabotaging the sound.
