Launched on YouTube on October 1, 2020, Stray Cats highlights the lives of three New York City based artists that reside in far off working class neighborhoods in Brooklyn while pursuing their dreams in the city.
The web series, created by Gillian Leigh Visco (of Shadowmonster fame), draws on her own life’s experiences in a world that caters more to the idle wealthy and leaves starving creatives fighting for their lives.
“Stray Cats is a dark comedy about a few rough and tumble artist kids trying to make it in New York City. I want the series to shine a light on what it’s really like for struggling artists to make a life for themselves, and simultaneously act as a platform for different genres of underground art.”

To bring the web series to life, Visco assembled a truly talented cast and crew to film the pilot episode, including episode director Colin Hooker-Haring, who’s worked on major films that featured A-list actors Joseph Gorden-Levitt and Seth Rogan.
The show weaves together Visco’s love for music, film, and art—highlighting underground art throughout the series in hopes to bring to surface the groups of people who struggle to stay afloat in NYC’s choppy waters.
“The entire series will be full of independent music from the current scene in Brooklyn. The pilot episode features music by Sic Tic and Darkwing, two local independent bands that have been a staple to the Brooklyn scene for years.”
